So here it is already September. Where did that summer go?? We weren’t really all that busy this summer (as far as shows go)- but the shows we did were good ones! Butchart Gardens, Stoney Pocket Festival on Pender Island, Cowichan Folk Guild Feature and finally, RIFFLANDIA!
We have some news for you!
Firstly, we are very excited to officially welcome Ivonne Hernandez to the band! We hired Ivonne to play with us for our CD release concerts but assumed she was too busy to ever join the band. Well I guess she must have had a great time since she agreed, upon a formal request, to become a Wild Sunday! Ivonne brings crazy fiddle chops, new creative energy and decades of performance experience to the band which is very exciting for us all! Check out her website: Ivonne Hernandez
Secondly, our lovely percussionist/vocalist Laura Carleton will be welcoming a little one to the world sometime in November! We are all thrilled to meet the babe and we send a zillion kisses to the new mom and dad to be. While it might mean a few weeks of time-off for Laura, it will also mean many months of home time, and possibly more time for music (if she’s not too sleep-deprived!)
Thirdly, three of us are planning another mini-tour to the Kootenays. We have 5 shows scheduled for Nov.9-12- Vancouver, Christina Lake, Nelson x 2, and Kaslo. Kelly, Ivonne and I look forward to digging into the music as a trio, and bringing more of Ivonne fiddling chops to the forefront.
We have a couple gigs coming up in the next couple weeks- Qualicum this Sunday and Mayne Island next Saturday. We have a photo shoot scheduled this week, so keep your eyes out for new pics!! Hope to catch you at a show near you!
And in this harvest season I leave you with the Farmer aint in the Dell video, in case you haven’t seen it yet…. dedicated to all organic farmers out there. And now, off to do more canning!
