So this spring we have been sewing the seeds of summer- applying for festivals, lining up gigs, practicing. Baby Claira, Laura’s new little girl is such a sweetheart and has been present at a few of our practices, learning mommy’s parts so she can fill in one day if she needs to! Other news, Kelly turned 50 and we had a great party at Hermann’s to celebrate- fun dance band and we had fun re-writing Kelly’s song Purple Skies to perform for her!
Exciting news! Genevieve’s song “Down Down Down” from the Fine Line album album won the BC Musician Songwriting Contest!! It was chosen out of 67 entries and the prize includes a CBC Interview on North by Northwest, and an article in BC Musician Magazine. The prize also includes participation in a Songwriters Workshop in Wells, and performance at Artswells, but because the band is committed to playing a festival that weekend, Genevieve will take advantage of that part of the prize in 2018.
“Down Down Down” was also a FINALIST in the International Acoustic Music Awards in the Country/Bluegrass category. Who knew it would be such a hit??

We are also thrilled to announce that Ivonne’s band The Fretless (the band she started and nurtured towards it’s success) won a Juno for Instrumental Album of the Year! We are so thrilled for her, though of course it’s a bit bitter-sweet for her since she’s left the band (our win, their loss). We can’t wait to get a pic of her holding the Juno. In the meantime, she continues to be busy with Coastline (her fiddle orchestra), with realling dialling our music and of course all the other projects she has on the go. Check out her website: Ivonne Hernandez
Genevieve and the girls have been busy making a video for Lost Cell Phone Blues- and boy has it been fun and funny! It includes the story of dropping the phone, sulking about it being gone and of course, the lesson that there is more to life beyond the screen. Genevieve finally gets to use that theatre degree and do some serious over-acting. The video is being made by cinematographer Chris Wilson and we hope that all our fans will “Like” and “Share” it when it comes out!
